Print layout — flyers, cards and brochures

The bleed is the edge outside the format that the printer trims off: let a background or photo that runs to the edge extend into it (usually 3 mm).

The content stays; only the format, margins and bleed change.

Text goes into the PDF as real text with the embedded fonts, images at their full resolution: a JPEG as it is, any other image without transparency as a high-quality JPEG (0.92), unless you choose ‘lossless’. Colours are RGB; there is no CMYK, colour profile or PDF/X yet: ask your printer whether RGB is fine.
