Read what a QR code contains, from a photo or screenshot or with the camera. You first see the link, the Wi-Fi network, the contact card or the payment request as text, and only open something when you choose to.
Good to know
A QR code is a link you cannot read. Scammers stick their own code over the one on a parking meter, or send one by email or letter, with a payment page that looks real. This tool opens nothing by itself: you first see the full address and the name of the site, with a warning for an insecure link, an IP address or an address with special characters. For a payment QR you see the payee, the IBAN (with a check of the check digits) and the amount.
Links, Wi-Fi networks (name, password and security), contact cards (vCard and MECARD; you can save a vCard as .vcf), email, phone, text messages, a place on the map, payment requests following the EPC standard and two-factor authentication keys. If there are several codes in one image, it looks for all of them. If it does not work, take a sharper photo showing the whole code with a white border. This tool does not read barcodes. The image and the camera picture stay on your device.
