Open NWD files (also .nwc) — free, in your browser

NWD is the model format of Autodesk Navisworks, in which contractors and BIM coordinators combine the models of all parties to detect clashes and plan construction. An .nwc is the cache file that Navisworks creates next to a source model.

With the free downloadlink viewer you open a .nwd / .nwc file directly in your browser. Nothing is installed, and without an account nothing is uploaded either — when you are logged in, the viewer keeps your file in My files.

What the viewer does with NWD files

The viewer reads an NWD or NWC in your browser with its own reader for the Navisworks format and shows the model in 3D, with each source file as a part you can turn on or off. You rotate, zoom, measure and make a section.

Good to know

It is an approximate view: the viewer does not yet read the names and properties of the elements, and whatever it cannot read with certainty it counts and reports instead of drawing it halfway. A protected file or an unknown version does not open. An .nwf (file set) contains no model itself: open the .nwd instead, or export from Navisworks as FBX.

How it works

  1. Click Open your NWD file above.
  2. Drag your .nwd file into the window, or click to choose it.
  3. View it directly in your browser.
