Convert an Excel file (xlsx, xls or ods) to CSV. Choose the separator and the decimal separator; formulas become their results and dates stay readable. Several sheets at once come as a ZIP.
Good to know
A Dutch or French Excel expects a semicolon between columns and a comma in numbers (1,5); an English Excel and most other programs expect a comma and a point (1.5). Choose what the recipient uses; the tool starts with the setting for the language of this site. With 'UTF-8 with BOM', Excel shows é, ü and € correctly; without a BOM an older Excel turns them into strange characters. Another program, such as a database, sometimes wants no BOM at all.
A CSV has no formulas: each cell gets the result as stored in the file. If the file was not saved by Excel, a formula sometimes has no result; those cells stay empty and the tool tells you how many there are. Dates are written as in the file (31-12-2026) or, if you choose, as 2026-12-31. A CSV holds one sheet: choose more and you get a ZIP with one CSV per sheet. Text that starts with =, +, - or @ gets an apostrophe in front, so a spreadsheet does not turn it into a formula when opening it; switch this off if the file is not going into a spreadsheet.
