Reorder the slides in a PowerPoint

pptx — stays on your own device

Put the slides of a PowerPoint presentation (.pptx) in a different order, duplicate, hide or delete slides and save the result as a presentation again. Everything else in the file stays as it is.

Good to know

What can I do with the slides?

You see all slides as thumbnails. Drag a slide to another place or use the arrows, duplicate a slide (the copy comes right after it), hide a slide from the slide show or remove it. Undo takes you one step back. When you save the result you get a new presentation; your own file does not change.

Does the rest of my presentation stay intact?

Yes. The tool only changes the list of slides; text, formatting, animations, notes, charts, videos and the slide master stay as they are in the file. A copy gets its own notes and its own chart, so you can change them separately from the original. If you delete a slide that another slide jumped to, only that jump disappears. If the presentation has sections, a moved slide belongs to the section of its new neighbour.

What can this tool not do?

Editing the content of a slide (text, images, formatting) is not possible here, nor is merging slides from two presentations. The tool cannot open an old .ppt file or a presentation with a password: first save it in PowerPoint as .pptx without a password. The thumbnails are a rendering by this tool; an image or a special font may look different from PowerPoint, but nothing about that changes in the file.
