Open GEOJSON files — free, in your browser

GeoJSON is an open, text-based format (RFC 7946) for geographic shapes: points, lines and areas with properties. Web maps and GIS programs such as QGIS use it a lot.

With the free downloadlink viewer you open a .geojson file directly in your browser. Nothing is installed, and without an account nothing is uploaded either — when you are logged in, the viewer keeps your file in My files.

What the viewer does with GEOJSON files

The viewer shows the file as tidy JSON and puts the shapes on a map with the On the map button; clicking a shape shows its properties.

Good to know

A file in a coordinate system other than WGS84 is only converted if it names that system (for example EPSG:28992 for RD New).

How it works

  1. Click Open your GEOJSON file above.
  2. Drag your .geojson file into the window, or click to choose it.
  3. View it directly in your browser.
