Open 3DM files — free, in your browser

3DM is the native file format of Rhino (Rhinoceros 3D) by McNeel, widely used in architecture, product and jewellery design and shipbuilding. It stores NURBS surfaces, polysurfaces, meshes, curves and layers.

With the free downloadlink viewer you open a .3dm file directly in your browser. Nothing is installed, and without an account nothing is uploaded either — when you are logged in, the viewer keeps your file in My files.

What the viewer does with 3DM files

The viewer reads the file with rhino3dm, McNeel's open reader, and shows the meshes and the render meshes that Rhino stores with surfaces and polysurfaces, with the layers and their colours. You turn layers on or off, rotate, zoom, measure with snapping and make a section.

Good to know

A surface or polysurface for which the file contains no render mesh (for example after Save Small) cannot be turned into triangles by the viewer itself; it reports how many objects are missing as a result.
