Open URDF files — free, in your browser
URDF (Unified Robot Description Format) is the XML format of ROS that describes a robot: the parts (links) with their shape and the joints between them, with their axis and limits.
With the free downloadlink viewer you open a .urdf file directly in your browser. Nothing is installed, and without an account nothing is uploaded either — when you are logged in, the viewer keeps your file in My files.

What the viewer does with URDF files
The viewer shows the robot in 3D with the shapes from the file (boxes, cylinders, spheres) and the meshes (STL, COLLADA and OBJ) from the same zip. In the Joints panel you move each revolute or sliding joint within its limits; measuring and a section work on the pose of that moment.
Good to know
A mesh that is not in the same zip, or that points to an address on the internet, the viewer does not fetch: it counts and names what is missing. It does not show collision shapes or the dynamics (mass, inertia).
