Open USDZ files — free, in your browser

USDZ is Apple's 3D format for AR Quick Look on iPhone and iPad: a zip with a USD scene from Pixar and its textures. Reality Composer, Object Capture and many web shops use it.

With the free downloadlink viewer you open a .usdz file directly in your browser. Nothing is installed, and without an account nothing is uploaded either — when you are logged in, the viewer keeps your file in My files.

What the viewer does with USDZ files

The viewer reads a USDZ that holds the scene as text (USDA) with the three.js reader and shows the meshes with their colours and PNG textures. You rotate, zoom, measure with snapping and make a section.

Good to know

A USDZ with the scene in the binary format (USDC), like most files from Apple itself, the viewer cannot read (yet); it says so. It does not show animations, skeletons or JPEG textures.

How it works

  1. Click Open your USDZ file above.
  2. Drag your .usdz file into the window, or click to choose it.
  3. View it directly in your browser.
